The artist Katherine Soutar Caddick exhibited some of her work at the Furness Tradition Festivals in 2016 and 2017. Her work for the History Press is a unique collaboration between illustrator, storytellers and publisher. She reads the entire manuscript of each folk tales book and crafts the perfect cover image based on its content and her own extensive research. She has supplied the cover artwork for every title in the Folktales series, now at over 70 books and still counting, she is also responsible for the covers for the newly commissioned Ghost Tales series.
Katherine’s book ‘Painting The Tales: The Folk Tales Collection’ is being published on June 1st 2018. This new collection features the best of these illustrations along with an explanation of the inspiration behind each design.
Through the introductory text accompanying each illustration, we gain an insight into how this artist works, learn how creating her fascinating artwork is very much a family affair, and hear anecdotes about working with storytellers.
If you wish to pre-order the book contact Katherine directly at firstname.lastname@example.org. She says “I will sign it for you (and dedicate it too if you like) and the first 100 copies I send out will also include some extra little surprises. There will be a special something for Patreon patrons only too… Xxx”
