Chris Meredith (Fiddle) and James Taylor (Guitar) are an exciting new duo combining Scottish and Irish fiddle tunes with foot stomping guitar accompaniment all the way from Cumbria.

Chris began his partnership with music as a young fiddle player from the Highlands, competing and winning competitions in Scotland and completing his fiddle education as the first pupil of Scotland’s prestigious music school “Aberdeen City Music School of Excellence”. He then honed his skills as a guitarist, composer and arranger over the four year degree traditional music course at Newcastle University – applying his skills to many musical ventures like his duo with Amy Thatcher in Live Music Now, Scottish trio NE3Folk, and international duo with Nellie Quinn. As a composer, he has enjoyed opportunities to  create music for both  television and Radio.

Now living in Newcastle Upon Tyne he has been making a name for himself in the North of England, but has also broken into the international scene touring Europe and Canada regularly.

James Taylor was originally a member of Furness Tradition’s youth music project FreeBandReel. He went on to become a multi-award-winning Guitarist and multi-instrumentalist. He graduated from Newcastle University in 2018 which included a year at the Norwegian Academy of Music.

He was a winner of the Celtic Connections Danny Kyle Award in 2016. He appeared at the 2012 London Olympics alongside Northumbrian piper Kathryn Tickell. His most recent project was a tour of Scandinavia with Norwegian/Irish Band “Anders Lillebo Trio”.
