With Dave Camlin & Jessie McMeekin

The Coach House
Ford Park, Ford Park Crescent, Ulverston, LA12 7JP
This is a journey in story and song around Cumbria’s Celtic Connections.
“Where do you come from…? Yes, but where do you really come from…?”
Join Jessie McMeekin and Dave Camlin for an evening of stories and songs exploring the enduring power of place. The Long Way Home takes the form of a journey which uses folk songs and tales to explore the links between the nations of England, Wales, Northern Ireland & Scotland.
Dave Camlin is a journey-man of Cumbrian roots music.
Through all of Dave’s innovative music-making run the big themes of Cumbrian cultural roots, landscape and history.
Kicking off in the mid 90’s with the experimental acoustic-electronica of Altar Native, Dave went on to form Tryckster, the classic West Cumbrian roots-rock band. Recent years have seen him focus his energies on leading Cumbrian community choirs such as Mouthful and Sing Owt! , as well as collaboration with storyteller Jessie McMeekin.
“Cumberland is in my blood, no matter where I roam.
I feel the pull of the lakes and fells, but I’m taking the long way home.”
Jessie and Dave weave a magical odyssey uniting Cumbria’s neolithic heritage with the landscapes, Celtic myths and legends of North Wales, Ireland and the Isle of Man, creating a rich sound world using singing bowls, hang, cello, guitar and bodhran.
