Ten years ago, Teeside’s folk singer-songwriter Katie Doherty was named Newcomer of the Year by a Newcastle newspaper and released her debut album, Bridges, going on to share stages with Karine Polwart, Kathryn Tickell, the McGarrigles and Ray Davies. Katie has worked as composer and musical director for theatre productions at Newcastle’s Northern Stage theatre and the RSC. She is associate artist with November Club theatre company for whom she composed the Musical Beyond The End of The Road as well as countless others for November Club and Northern Stage, as well as New York Fringe Festival ‘Best of the Fringe’ Winner ‘The Fall’.
Katie’s latest project is a collaboration with fellow North East based musicians David Gray on melodeon and Shona Mooney on fiddle. Some of you will remember David as a member of Horizontal Sunday .
