We are delighted to announce that the Wilson Family have been added to the festival line-up.
The Wilson Family is an instantly recognisable and unfailingly popular feature of the English folk festival and club scene, consisting of sister Pat and brothers Tom, Chris, Steve, Ken and Mike, all members of the same family from Teesside in the North East of England. Like other family groups such as the Watersons and the Coppers – both of whom remain major influences – The Wilsons have an instinctive mutual understanding and the sheer power of these five voices is awesome.
They have always concentrated on doing what they enjoy most – singing to live audiences at clubs and festivals.Their bias has always been towards an interaction with audiences rather than with technology – getting a buzz from the crowd rather that from studio amplifiers!
They recently appeared on BBC 4. The show “Sting. When The Last Ship Sails”, first aired on BBC TV last December, was shown again on BBC4 on Sunday 27th April. The show was recorded at the Public Theater New York for the Launch of Stings new CD “The Last Ship” showcasing the songs for the play/musical of the same name which opens on Broadway later this year. The Wilson Family perform the song “Big Steamers” during the show.
